Hey Fam! 

This weekend as I was preparing for the launch of this blog, I sat on my sofa and asked God, “What do you want to say to your people?” I sat quietly for a good little bit to listen for what He’d have to say.  As I waited, my waiting turned into worship. Ahhh…I just love when that happens. Still, I had no word from Him but I trusted that He would speak like He always does, so I proceeded to get ready for the day.

As I was in the shower…you know, the Lord be giving me some good revelation in the bathroom…LOL! I heard Him say, “Tell them I love them,” and I began to weep. The Holy Spirit reminded me of something that I had not forgotten but simply tucked away in my heart. He reminded me of the fact that this blog was not just 3 years in the making, but actually the fruit of the seed of evangelism that He placed in my heart back when I was 17 years old—nearly 30 years ago. I was just so overwhelmed and then I remembered the story… because again, you know… I got stories, right? LOL…

It was January 1992, I was at the church planning meeting along with my brother and our friend. We were there to represent our youth choir and to get on the church calendar of events for the programs we had planned for the year. I remember coming into that meeting just being excited about what God had placed in my heart.  So when it came to the month of June, which is traditionally youth month, they asked us what we wanted to do. And with all my zeal and confidence I said, “We want to go door to door in the neighborhood and invite people to church.” That’s a good thing, right? Well, I’ll never forget that one of the adults in charge snickered and asked me in a very condescending tone, “Well what are you going to tell people?” You know that feeling you get when you’re put on the spot and you get all hot and flushed because you’re embarrassed? That was me. My little heart start beating so fast and I simply replied, “I’m going to tell them that Jesus loves them!” It was like my 17-year-old heart, even back then, knew what was the most important thing God wanted to say to His people. And guess what they told us? NO.

That “no” would become yet another fracture in my already shattered identity. So with that, I took the zeal that was in my heart and my desire to share God with others and I hid them away. What was a burning flame had now become just a flicker. But praise be to God that the flame never fully died.

As the Holy Spirit brought this story to my remembrance all I could do is cry because when I asked God what he wanted to say to His people some 30 years later, it was the exact same thing He put in my heart when I was just 17 years old. “Tell them that I love them!” And it’s just that simple, Fam…Jesus LOVES YOU! So much so that He gave His life as a ransom just so you could be reconnected to the Father and spend eternity with Him! The Father loves you and longs for a relationship with you. He gave His only son for you. He longs to restore your true identity in Him because Fam you are not just a mere man. You were created in His likeness and in His image…and that Fam, means more than just being blessed or getting a blessing from God.  And the Holy Spirit loves you and desires to make His dwelling place inside of you. He’s ready to lead you and guide you into ALL truth and to show you things to come.

Fam, I am not here just to tell “feel-good” stories…Nope! Not the goal nor the mission. I am here to share the heart of God and to inspire you on your walk and journey with Him. He loves you more than you’ll ever know. There is nothing that can or will ever separate you from His love. He loves you so much and desires to have the most amazing relationship with you. He has loved you from before the foundations of the world. And there is nothing that you have to do to earn His love…all you have to do is simply RECEIVE IT! Receive His love into your heart and life today by accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior because He is the ONLY way, the Truth, and the Life.

So I ask you, have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior? Have you asked Him to come into your heart and life and have His way? Because if not, today, right now, at this moment, is the absolute perfect opportunity for you to make the best decision you’ll ever make in your life.

Here’s a simple prayer you can say right now wherever you are. This is not just a “Sunday” standing at the altar thing. Salvation is available to you right there in your car, your living room, your office, the breakroom, the train, the bus, the waiting room…Fam, it doesn’t matter. All it takes is a whisper and a yes in your spirit.

PRAYER: Father, in the name of Jesus, I come to you now just as I am. I accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. Jesus, come into my heart and life today. Live your life in me and through me. I repent of my sins and I surrender my heart and life completely to you today. Amen.

That’s IT! You have just made THE most important decision of your life. I am so excited for you and for all the wonderful and amazing things that God is going to do in your life. You are not alone on this journey. That’s why this blog exists so that we can do life together.
